In 2023, China's nonferrous metals industry will see a steady and positive trend. Preliminary statistics show that the output of ten commonly used nonferrous metals was 74.698 million tons, exceeding 70 million tons for the first time, an increase of 7.1% over the previous year on a comparable basis.

This was introduced by Chen Xuesen, vice president of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, at the press conference on the operation of the nonferrous metals industry in 2023 on the 30th.

Among them, the annual refined copper output was 12.99 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 13.5%; the electrolytic aluminum output was 41.59 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%.

It is understood that in 2023, the growth rate of major indicators reflecting the operation of the industry, such as industrial added value, main product output, realized profits, and fixed asset investment, in China's nonferrous metal industry will all exceed the national industrial average. Among them, fixed asset investment increased by 17.3% over the previous year, 2.8 percentage points faster than the previous year, and the growth rate hit a record high in the past ten years.

"In 2023, investment in non-ferrous metal materials required for photovoltaics, wind power, power and energy storage batteries, new energy vehicles, etc. and investment in non-ferrous metal mines will increase rapidly, which is an important factor driving the growth of fixed asset investment in the non-ferrous metal industry." Chen Xuesen said.

Chen Xuesen said that a series of policies to stabilize growth introduced in 2023 will continue to be effective in 2024, service consumption potential will continue to be released, high-tech and private manufacturing will support rapid economic growth, and the endogenous growth momentum of the economy will be further enhanced.
